Create Video allows you to embed images in Blackboard as individual content items on a course page. Adding video to a Blackboard course content area is a great way to connect abstract, academic concepts with real world events and phenomena that people have experienced around the world. You can select these videos from 1) your local computer, 2) your Blackboard content collection or 3) YouTube, using Mashups.

The instructions below detail how to upload a video file directly into your course, however, a preferred method for adding multi-media files to Blackboard is to upload them to MyMedia* and then link these files using Web Link. Linking to a MyMedia file means that your video files will not use up any of your course storage space.

 To Upload a Video

  1. Hover your mouse over Build Content then select Video.
  2. There are three ways to add videos:
    1. If your video is stored on your computer click the Browse My Computer to navitaget to the file.
    2. if your video is stored in Blackboard's content collection click Browse Content Collection to navigate to the file.
    3. If you would like to search for a video on YouTube hover your mouse over Browse Mashups  then click YouTube Video. Enter a search term to locate a video and click the Select button to add it to your course.
  3. Provide a Name for the file.
  4. Configure the Video Options, such as the size, automatic play, or loop on finish. If a YouTube video was used, configure the Mashup Options.
  5. Now set the Standard Options, i.e. if video is immediately visible to students, or scheduled to appear, and tracking of student activity.
  6. Click Submit to finish.
  7. The video now appears, with a green confirmation bar. Test the video to ensure it plays correctly, particularly from a home connection, which many students will also be using.
